We invite U.S. military veterans and their family members with LD to apply for admission

Landmark College could be the right fit for you or a dependent with LD

Landmark College was the first institution of higher learning exclusively for students with learning differences (LD), including language-based learning disabilities (such as dyslexia), ADHD, and autism.

We proudly participate in the Post-9/11 GI Bill® and the Yellow Ribbon Program. If you or your dependent has an LD, we encourage you to apply. Visit our financial aid pages to find out more about veterans' benefits.

One Family’s Story

Louis Roscoe enrolled at Landmark College in Fall 2019 after his veteran parents, Chris Roscoe (COL, U.S. Army, Retired) and Terry Roscoe (former US Army CPT) investigated multiple universities' LD programs, and discovered financial aid options through the Post-9/11 GI Bill® covered most expenses.

“I was pleasantly surprised by the ease of coordination with both the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and Landmark College (LC) administrators. I had only two tasks to resolve with the VA, and I was able to accomplish both within a few weeks. One was to access the VA’s website and ensure Louis had eligibility to receive my GI Bill® benefits. The second was a phone call to VA to request a Certificate of Eligibility, for presentation to Landmark College’s Financial Aid Officer. LC took care of the rest,” says Chris Roscoe, who served in the U.S. Army for 27 years.

“We did not decide until late July 2019 that Louis would attend Landmark College, due to exhaustive research into the best educational program. As a result, we did not start the two-step VA process until about a month before Louis was due to arrive at school. Yet, despite our delayed start, everything worked smoothly and Louis was in his early orientation at LC a month later.”

Terry Roscoe, who served in the U.S. Army for almost nine years, adds that Landmark College’s Office of Financial Aid helped the family navigate the process. “Michael Mertes (LC’s financial aid director) knew right off hand all the options available to us, and he helped us figure it all out.”

The Roscoes, who live in Kaiserslautern, Germany, visited Landmark College after one of Louis’s teachers recommended the College because of its reputation for educating neurodiverse students. After a visit, Louis and his family grew comfortable with the campus setting, and began the process of determining Louis’s eligibility for tuition aid under the Post-9/11 GI Bill®.

“Military families should know that after factoring all the benefits of the Post-9/11 GI Bill®, LC’s Yellow Ribbon Program, the VA book allowance and the VA housing allowance…the full cost of tuition/fees/room/board was incredibly low at about $2,500 per full-time semester for Louis,” says Chris Roscoe.
